Description
SS Ton Reserve Edition English Willow Cricket Bat
~ Player-grade willow. Massive TON edges. Tournament-ready pickup.
The Reserve Edition sits at the top of the SS TON range, built from the clefts SS holds back for its sponsored players. It is for the batter who has outgrown a club-grade blade and wants a genuine players' bat without waiting on a custom order. Sareen Sports has been making bats in Meerut since 1969 and is one of the most widely used names in international cricket; this is the Jonny Bairstow Reserve Edition profile.
Why Players Choose the Reserve Edition
Super best Grade 1 English willow
Hand-selected clefts, air dried rather than kiln-forced so the fibres stay springy and responsive. This is the willow stock SS reserves for its top players.
Massive concave TON edges
The current TON profile carves weight out of the spine while keeping the edges thick, giving you a bigger hitting area and more power through the ball without a heavy feel.
Light pickup, big playing area
A high, well-balanced pickup point makes the bat feel lighter than it weighs — faster hands, later shot selection, control off front and back foot. Finished with embossed chrome stickers, a three-tone aqua grip and a premium SS carry bag.

FAQ Section
Q1: What grade of willow is this bat made from? Super best Grade 1 English willow — the top of SS's own grading, from the clefts reserved for sponsored players. It is air dried, which keeps the fibres responsive and gives the bat its ping.
Q2: Does the bat need knocking in before I use it? Yes. It is professionally pressed but not match-ready out of the wrapper. Plan on several hours of mallet work, a light coat of raw linseed oil on the face, edges and toe, then net sessions with an old ball. Skipping this is the fastest way to crack a new edge.
Q3: Which weight should I choose? Take the heaviest bat you can still swing cleanly through a full arc. The TON profile picks up lighter than the listed weight, so most adult club batters get on well with Medium; Heavy suits stronger players who hit through the line.
Q4: What size is Short Handle and will it fit me? Short Handle is the standard adult size and suits most players around 5'6" and taller. If you are between sizes, work through the size guide linked above before ordering.
Q5: What kind of ball is this bat for? Hard leather cricket balls, in matches and nets. Using English willow of this grade for tape-ball or heavy tennis-ball cricket will damage it quickly — a Kashmir willow bat is the right tool there.
Q6: Does it come with a bat cover? Yes, every Reserve Edition ships with a premium SS carry bag.
Q7: How is the Reserve Edition different from a standard SS TON bat? The cleft and the profile. Reserve Edition bats come from SS's player-reserved willow rather than general retail grading, and carry the current player-spec TON shape with concave edges and a higher balance point.
Q8: How should I store and look after it? Keep it in the supplied cover somewhere cool and dry — never a hot car or a damp garage. Re-oil lightly once or twice a season, check the toe and edges after heavy use, and add a toe guard or anti-scuff sheet for abrasive surfaces.
