Description
Somi MSD Punch English Willow Cricket Bat
~ MSD-series power one step below the MSD Player.
The Somi MSD Punch is a short-handle English willow bat from Somi's MSD series, sitting just below the MSD Player. It is made for leather-ball batters who want a mid-bulge bat with thick edges.
Somi is the bat label of Somi Kohli, the Indian bat maker behind BAS, whose workshop built bats for MS Dhoni, including the lighter bat Dhoni asked for at the 2019 World Cup.
Why Players Choose the MSD Punch
Hand-selected English willow
The MSD Punch uses hand-selected English willow from the upper end of the Somi range, so it plays like a players bat at a lower price than the MSD Player.
Mid-level bulge
The sweet spot sits mid-blade, so it rewards drives and pulls alike and suits batters who improvise.
Thick, contoured edges
Edges run roughly 36-40mm and are contoured to hold thickness behind the sweet spot, so outside edges and mistimed shots still carry.

FAQ Section
Q1: What is the Somi MSD Punch? It is a short-handle English willow bat in Somi's MSD series, one step below the MSD Player, with a mid-level bulge, thick contoured edges and a Sarawak cane handle.
Q2: Should I buy the MSD Punch or the MSD Player? Buy the MSD Player if you want the better willow; buy the MSD Punch if you want the same mid-bulge MSD shape and construction at a lower price. Both suit adult leather-ball batters.
Q3: Is the MSD Punch good for power hitting? Yes. Thick contoured edges and a mid-blade sweet spot give it carry on drives and pulls, which suits batters who look for boundaries without giving up control.
Q4: What weight will I get? Choose Light (2lbs 7oz - 2lbs 8oz) or Medium (2lbs 9oz - 2lbs 10oz). Every bat is a natural cleft, so call us if you want the exact weight of a specific bat.
Q5: What grade of willow is it? Somi does not publish a grade stamp for this model, so we do not print one. Ask us and we will check the grains on the actual bat in stock.
Q6: Does this bat need knocking in? Yes. Like every English willow bat, knock it in for 4-6 hours with a bat mallet and play throw-downs with an old ball before it faces a new leather ball.
