Description
SG Sunny Tonny Harrow English Willow Cricket Bat
This is the Harrow-size version of SG's Sunny Tonny, the range named for Sunil Gavaskar. Harrow sits between a size 6 junior bat and a full adult short handle, and it is the size most growing players need for a season or two before they move up. It is genuine English willow, not a scaled-down starter blade. SG has been making cricket equipment since 1931 out of Meerut, India.
Why Players Choose the Sunny Tonny Harrow
The mistake most young batters make is going to a full adult bat too early. A bat that is too long or too heavy pulls the hands down and turns a good technique into a bottom-handed one. Harrow keeps the blade proportionate so the player can still play straight.
This one is in the very light band, which is exactly what you want at this size. Because it is English willow, it still performs against a proper leather ball once knocked in, so a player moving up in age group is not held back by their equipment.

FAQ Section
Q1: What size is Harrow? Harrow is the step between a size 6 junior bat and a full adult short handle. It generally suits players around 5ft 3in to 5ft 8in.
Q2: How do I know if my child needs Harrow or short handle? Stand the bat upright next to them. If the top of the handle reaches somewhere around the hip, the size is about right. Height is a better guide than age.
Q3: Does this bat need knocking in? Yes. Like any English willow bat it needs knocking in and gradual net use before facing a hard leather ball.
Q4: Is English willow worth it at this size? If the player is in hard-ball cricket, yes. It performs properly rather than just surviving, and that matters while technique is forming.
Q5: How do I look after it? Oil the face lightly with raw linseed a couple of times a season, keep an anti-scuff sheet and toe guard on, and store it dry and away from heat.
Q6: How long will they get out of it? Usually a season or two before they grow into a short handle, which is why we would not recommend buying at the very top of the range for this size.
Q7: Do you ship from the US? Yes. Every order ships from our Edison, New Jersey location, with free US shipping on orders over $100.
