Description
SG King of Jungle 1 (KOJ 1) English Willow Cricket Bat
The King of Jungle 1 is the top of SG's new KOJ series and a Grade 1 English willow bat. Grade 1 is the highest selection SG puts into a production blade: straight, even grain and clean colour, chosen for players who want the willow itself to do the work. SG has been making cricket equipment since 1931 out of Meerut, India.
Why Players Choose the King of Jungle 1
The KOJ series runs 1, 2 and 3 in descending willow selection, and the KOJ 1 sits at the top. At this level you are paying for grain structure and consistency across the blade rather than for cosmetics, and the difference shows in how quickly the bat comes into its own after knocking in.
We stock this one in short handle with a medium pick-up, the combination most senior batters settle on. Medium gives you weight behind the ball through the line without sacrificing the hand speed you need square of the wicket.

FAQ Section
Q1: What does Grade 1 mean? It is the top selection of English willow in a production bat, with straighter, more even grain and cleaner colour than lower grades.
Q2: How does the KOJ 1 differ from KOJ 2 and KOJ 3? The series descends by willow grade. KOJ 1 is Grade 1, KOJ 2 is Grade 2 and KOJ 3 is Grade 3.
Q3: Does a Grade 1 bat still need knocking in? Yes, and arguably more carefully. Knock it in properly and build up through the nets before match use.
Q4: How do I look after it? Oil the face lightly with raw linseed a couple of times a season, keep an anti-scuff sheet and toe guard on, and store it dry and away from direct heat.
Q5: Does more grain mean a better bat? Not on its own. Grain count is one signal among several, and a Grade 1 blade is selected on the whole picture rather than on grains alone.
Q6: Is this a full-size adult bat? Yes. Short handle is the standard adult size and generally suits players from around 5ft 9in upward.
Q7: Do you ship from the US? Yes. Every order ships from our Edison, New Jersey location, with free US shipping on orders over $100.
