Description

SS Ton Reserve Edition Junior / Youth English Willow Cricket Bat

~ Player-reserved willow, massive TON edges, scaled for young batters.

The Reserve Edition sits at the top of the SS TON range — the line built from the clefts SS holds back for its sponsored players. This is that bat in junior sizes 5 and 6, with the same air-dried Grade 1 willow and the same concave profile as the senior blade, shortened and lightened so a young batter can swing it cleanly. Sareen Sports has made bats in Meerut since 1969.

Why Young Players Choose the Reserve Edition

Super Best Grade 1 English Willow
Hand-selected clefts, air dried rather than kiln-forced so the fibres stay springy. This is adult players' willow in a junior blade, which is what gives real ping off the middle instead of the dull response of a starter bat.

Massive Concave TON Edges
The current TON profile carves weight out of the spine while keeping the edges thick. A junior gets the wide hitting area without the blade becoming a chore to lift — a bat a child cannot swing cleanly teaches bad habits fast.

Finished Like the Senior Bat
Embossed chrome stickers and a premium grip, with a clean, wide bat face and a light pick-up for the weight. Supplied with a premium SS carry bag.

FAQ Section

Q1: What grade of willow is this bat made from? Super best Grade 1 English willow — the top of SS's own grading, from the clefts the brand reserves for its sponsored players. It is air dried, which keeps the fibres responsive and gives the bat its ping.

Q2: Should I buy size 5 or size 6? Go by height, not age. Size 5 generally suits a player around 4'6" to 5'0" and size 6 around 4'11" to 5'3". The test is whether they can hold the bat at the top of the handle and swing it cleanly through a full arc. Work through the size guide linked above before ordering.

Q3: How is the Reserve Edition different from a standard SS TON junior bat? The cleft and the profile. Reserve Edition bats come from SS's player-reserved willow rather than general retail grading, and carry the current TON shape with concave edges and a higher balance point.

Q4: Does it come pre-knocked, or do we knock it in? It ships raw, like almost all English willow bats, and needs knocking-in before match use. Junior blades have thinner edges than adult bats, so skipping this stage is the most common cause of an early crack.

Q5: Is this for a hard ball or a tennis ball? Hard leather cricket balls, in nets and matches. English willow of this grade will crack quickly under tape-ball or heavy tennis-ball use — a Kashmir willow bat is the right choice there. We stock the Reserve Edition in Kashmir willow as a separate junior listing.

Q6: Does it come with a cover? Yes, a premium SS carry bag is included with every bat.

Q7: How should we look after it? Store it in the cover somewhere cool and dry, never a hot car. Re-oil lightly once or twice a season, check the toe and edges after heavy use, and fit a toe guard or anti-scuff sheet for abrasive surfaces.
