Q1: Can the SS Ranger be used with a hard leather ball? Yes. The Ranger is a hard-ball bat, pressed and shaped for standard leather cricket balls on turf or matting. It is not a tennis-ball bat.
Q2: Does it arrive knocked in? No. It comes factory-pressed, which is a starting point rather than a finish. Knock the edges and toe in with a mallet over several sessions and apply a light coat of raw linseed oil before match use.
Q3: What is the difference between Kashmir and English willow? Kashmir willow is denser and harder, so it needs less knocking in and takes more punishment, but it gives away some ping and rebound to English willow.
