SG HP 150 Junior / Youth English Willow Cricket Bat
The junior HP 150 comes from SG's HP range, built around Hardik Pandya, in size 5 and size 6. It is genuine English willow at a junior price, which is unusual at this size where most bats are Kashmir willow. SG has been making cricket equipment since 1931 out of Meerut, India.

We list the size 5 in two separate weight bands because the bats we received genuinely differ — one sits in the 1lb 11oz to 1lb 13oz range and one in the 1lb 14oz to 2lbs range. For a small player that difference is significant, so we would rather you choose it than have it chosen for you.
Size is still the first decision. Size 5 and size 6 cover most players roughly 4ft 6in to 5ft 3in, and height is a better guide than age. Because the blade is English willow, it rebounds properly off the middle once knocked in.

Q1: Why are there two size 5 options? The two size 5 bats we have in stock fall into different weight bands. They are otherwise the same model.
Q2: Which size 5 weight should I choose? Lighter is usually safer for a younger or smaller player. If they can hold the bat up one-handed at shoulder height without dropping it, the weight is manageable.
Q3: How do I pick between size 5 and size 6? Stand the bat upright beside the player. If the top of the handle sits around the hip, the size is right.
Q4: Does a junior bat need knocking in? Yes. English willow needs knocking in and gradual net use at any size before facing a hard leather ball.
Q5: How do I look after it? Oil the face lightly with raw linseed a couple of times a season, keep an anti-scuff sheet and toe guard on, and store it dry and away from heat.
Q6: How is this different from the adult HP 150? Same model line, different size. The adult version is short handle and is listed separately.
