Description

The Cheapest Upgrade You Can Make to Any Paddle

A worn factory grip costs you more points than any equipment choice you agonise over. When your hand slides even fractionally at contact the paddle face opens, and drives sail. The Selkirk Tacky Pickleball Overgrip 3 Pack is the fix, and at three wraps per pack it is the least expensive performance change available to a US league player.

Tacky overgrips work by staying slightly sticky rather than relying on texture alone, which means they keep their hold as your hand gets damp. That makes them the default choice for outdoor summer play and for anyone who sweats through a standard cushion grip in a single session.

Key Performance Features

  • High-Tack Surface: A genuinely sticky finish that holds your hand position through full swings, so the face stays square when you drive.

  • Moisture Absorption: Pulls sweat away from the contact surface instead of letting it pool, which is where most grips fail during long humid sessions.

  • Three Wraps Per Pack: Enough to re-grip roughly once a month for a regular player, or to do the whole family's paddles in one go.

  • Builds Grip Size: Each wrap adds roughly 1/16 inch to grip circumference, which is the simplest way to move a 4.25 inch handle closer to 4.375 inch without buying a different paddle.

  • Works on Any Paddle: Fits Selkirk, Bread & Butter and every other standard pickleball handle, and works equally well on tennis and platform tennis grips.

Q: How often should I replace a pickleball overgrip?

A: For a player on court two or three times a week, roughly every four to six weeks. The clearest signal is tack: once the grip stops feeling slightly sticky and starts feeling smooth or shiny, it has stopped doing its job even if it still looks fine.

Q: What is the difference between an overgrip and a replacement grip?

A: A replacement grip is the thicker cushioned base layer bonded to the handle itself. An overgrip is a thin wrap applied over the top of it. Overgrips are consumable and designed to be changed frequently; you should not need to remove the replacement grip underneath.

Q: Will an overgrip change my grip size?

A: Yes, slightly. Each wrap adds roughly 1/16 inch to the circumference. If your 4.25 inch handle feels marginally small, one overgrip is the standard way to bring it up without changing paddles. Two wraps is generally the practical maximum before feel suffers.

Q: How do I apply a pickleball overgrip?

A: Start at the butt of the handle with the tapered end, peel the backing as you go, and wrap upward at an angle with about an eighth of an inch of overlap on each turn. Keep light, even tension throughout and finish with the supplied finishing tape just below the paddle face.

Q: Is a tacky overgrip better than a cushioned one?

A: It depends on your hands. Tacky grips hold better when damp and give more direct feedback from the paddle, which most competitive players prefer. Cushioned grips absorb more vibration and suit players managing elbow or wrist discomfort. For humid outdoor US play, tacky is generally the better default.
