Grains indicate willow age and quality but are not the whole story. More grains (8-12) mean older, denser wood — generally better. Fewer grains (4-6) mean younger wood. But pressing quality, cleft selection, and profile matter more than grain count alone. Do not pay extra for grain count without checking pickup. Shop bats.
